I/O [input/output] modules and equipment controllers

I/O [input/output] modules are all-purpose devices designed to allow expanding control systems in order to process additional object signals. They are used as expansion systems for PLC controllers and PAC controllers. They allow local or remote expansion of systems.

In order to exchange data they use a built-in interface which allows communication in industrial serial networks, Ethernet and Fieldbus. On the other hand, the device controller is a program or a fragment of a program responsible for specific device, and it works in-between this device and the rest of the computer system.
