WLC50 — Sensing cable for water leak detection, 50 m
WLC is a Vutlan sensing cable that detects leaks along its entire length — not at a single point like a spot sensor, but wherever the cable has been laid. Liquid shorts the conductors in the braid, the resistance drops, and the connected sensor immediately reports an alarm to the data logger.
The 50-meter version is the longest single section in the WLC family. It is used in data centers and technical halls, where the cable runs along long pipework routes or through the entire underfloor space.
Key information
Section length
50 m
Cable diameter
6.5 mm
Detected liquids
water, acids, alkalis, alcohols
Max. run length
100 m
Required sensor
VT591 or VT594
Typical application
data center, technical hall
Basic features:
-
Linear detection: alarm from any point along the cable, not just from a single spot
-
Section length: 50 m — ready-to-use, factory-terminated cable
-
Diameter: 6.5 mm — the cable can be routed under raised floor tiles and in cable trays
-
Detected liquids: clean, contaminated and distilled water, acids, alkalis, alcohols
-
Maximum detection run length: 100 m per sensor
-
Mounting: on standard and metal surfaces; do not lay on mesh floors
-
Reusable: after drying, the cable returns to normal operation
Applications
A 50 m section works well on long routes: chilled water pipework, cable ducts, the space under the raised floor in a large data center. A single section then replaces several shorter cables and several sensors, which simplifies installation and later servicing.
What else you will need
The WLC cable does not work on its own — it connects to a VT591 or VT594 sensor, which in turn connects to a Vutlan data logger (e.g. VT335G, VT825G, VT855G). The sensor and data logger are ordered separately. One sensor supports a detection run with a total length of up to 100 m, so shorter sections can be joined into a longer route.
Leak monitoring in practice
Leak detection makes sense when the alarm reaches someone in the middle of the night. If you are looking for a complete notification system — temperature, humidity, water leaks, power, cabinet access — check out the EnviSensor data loggers and the CE MonitorApp software in our range.
