Pharmacy and laboratory temperature monitoring

Temperature monitoring for pharmacies and pharma — ready for inspection

Across the EU, pharmacies, wholesalers and hospitals must keep medicines within the manufacturer's storage conditions, record temperatures continuously and react to excursions around the clock. We supply the complete package: a data logger with an accredited calibration certificate, configured alarms and inspection documents — in a single order.

Temperature monitoring: what the system covers

🌡️ Pharmacy rooms — temperature and humidity, recorded every minute
❄️ Pharmaceutical refrigerators and cold rooms — recorded every minute, with an alarm before medicines are compromised
🧪 Laboratories — precise measurement, calibrated at the points your method requires
🏥 Hospitals and wholesalers — many zones and locations in one dashboard

What EU rules expect

Storage of medicinal products in the EU is governed by the EU Good Distribution Practice guidelines (GDP, 2013/C 343/01) for wholesalers and distributors, and by national pharmacy regulations built on the same principles. In practice, inspectors typically expect:

  • continuous temperature recording in refrigerators, cold rooms and storage areas, with the current, minimum and maximum values available,
  • round-the-clock alarms when the defined storage conditions are exceeded,
  • records kept for the period set by national law — for wholesalers, EU law requires at least 5 years,
  • monitoring instruments calibrated at defined intervals and traceable to national or international standards — in practice, a certificate from an accredited calibration laboratory (ISO/IEC 17025).

Storage ranges follow the manufacturer's labelling (typically 15–25°C for rooms and 2–8°C for refrigerated medicines). Exact requirements differ from country to country — tell us where you operate and we will set logging intervals, thresholds and reports to match your national rules.

How it works

01

Selection and calibration — we agree the measurement points (e.g. 2–8°C for a refrigerator) and arrange accredited calibration certificates for your devices.

02

Pre-shipment configuration — logging intervals, thresholds, alarm recipients and the inspection report set before delivery.

03

Compliance for years — a measurement archive in CE MonitorApp or on site, and a reminder about recalibration before it's due.

FAQ

How often must the system record the temperature?

It depends on your national rules and your own procedures (SOPs). What inspectors look for is continuous monitoring: the system records every minute and always shows the current, minimum and maximum temperature, so nothing between staff checks goes unnoticed.

How long must measurements be kept?

As long as your national regulations require — for wholesalers, EU law sets a minimum of 5 years. The archive is kept by CE MonitorApp or the local software, with a backup copy.

Does the data logger need an accredited calibration certificate?

EU GDP requires monitoring equipment to be calibrated at defined intervals and traceable to national or international standards — in practice, a certificate from an accredited laboratory. Our pharmacy kits include accredited calibration in the price, and for recalibration we collect and return the equipment.

I run several pharmacies — can I see them all in one place?

Yes, the dashboard shows every location, and alarms go to the right people at each of them — also across different countries.
