Museum and archive climate monitoring

A stable microclimate for museum collections — no cables near the exhibits

Humidity swings damage collections silently: cracked wood, corroded metal and faded pigments can't be undone. We monitor temperature and humidity in display cases, galleries and collection stores — discreetly, wirelessly and with alarms sent straight to the conservator.

Environmental monitoring around your collections

🖼️ Display cases — a miniature humidity and temperature sensor, invisible to visitors
🏛️ Galleries — temperature, humidity and dew point at many points
📜 Collection stores and archives — stable conditions where nobody looks in every day
💧 Flooding — probes in basements and next to pipework above the collections

EN 15757 and EN 15758 in practice

EN 15757 sets out requirements for temperature and relative humidity to protect hygroscopic organic materials, and EN 15758 describes the measurement procedures. In practice this means continuous measurement around the object, analysis of fluctuations (not just averages) and documentation. We help translate conservation guidelines into alarm thresholds for your collections — without forcing one range on every material.

How it works

01

Choosing the points — together with the conservator, we decide which objects and which zones to measure.

02

Pre-shipment configuration — thresholds per gallery or case, alarms to the conservator and technician, monthly reports.

03

New exhibition? No problem — you move the wireless sensors to the new spot and the system keeps running.

FAQ

How should environmental monitoring be run in a museum?

The basis is a humidity and temperature sensor next to the objects; in basements and near pipework, flood detection as well. For light-sensitive collections, consider measuring light intensity.

Does one humidity range suit every collection?

No. Wood, paper, metal and textiles have different requirements — that's why we set thresholds per gallery or display case, following the conservator's guidance.

How can I monitor a display case without running cables?

You place a miniature wireless sensor (the battery lasts for years) inside the case; readings go to the dashboard and trigger an alarm when a limit is exceeded.

The building has thick walls — will the signal get through?

That's exactly what we check during the 30-day trial before you buy. In difficult spots we use signal repeaters or wired RS485 sensors.

Not sure what to choose?

Describe your site in 3 sentences — number of rooms, what you want to measure and what network is on site. We'll select the system and send a quote within 24 hours on business days.
