Rack Compliance PDU — managed power with energy metering for the monitoring module
An extension of the Rack Compliance module with a power layer. The managed PDU power strip lets you remotely switch individual outlets off and on and see how much current each device in the cabinet actually draws.
This is the item that usually falls out of scope in tenders for servers and UPS units — and without it you can neither restart a hung device without a site visit nor document the cabinet load before adding another server.
Remote restart instead of a site visit
A hung switch or an unresponsive server no longer means a trip to the site. You switch a specific outlet off and on from the web interface, via SNMP or with a script from the monitoring system. At locations without permanent staff, this is usually the fastest-paying item in the whole cabinet.
Per-outlet energy metering
You see the current draw on each outlet separately, not just the total for the power strip. This tells you how much headroom is really left on the UPS, which device has started running hotter than usual and whether a new server will fit into the power budget at all.
Integration with the monitoring module
The power strip works with the Vutlan controllers from the Rack Compliance module and with monitoring systems via SNMP. Logic schemes let you link an environmental event to a power action — for example, exceeding a critical temperature can switch off a specified outlet.
